AURORA The "Real-Time" SD, HD and 2K data* Grain and Noise management system uses a non-recursive filter to reduce or remove film grain and video noise without the smearing and artifacts often associated with this process. Five frames of internal memory allow Aurora's Finite Impulse Response filter (FIR) to average pixel values over as many as six frames where little motion exists. Fewer frames of history are used with moving objects to minimize motion artifacts. Removal "Amount" and "Threshold" controls combined with a unique still motion monitor process allows the Aurora™ user to set precise amounts of grain reduction on a frozen frame. Image enhancement with coring provides image sharpening without enhancing the grain. Aurora's "Gore Filter" has seven different frequency characteristics that provide filtering to lower peak to peak transients, such as grain, while allowing larger transitions to pass unaffected. CORONA - Telecine remote control using Sony® protocol Corona-telecine to digital storage interface How can film images be scanned and moved to non-linear post-production devices without the need for expensive high speed data networks or compressed VTR formats? This question has been asked by many non-linear editing and color correction facilities worldwide. Video tape recorders have advanced, however the best are very expensive and still require some form of compression, compromising image quality with artifacts that often go unnoticed until pushed during post-production processes. The Corona editor in its base form solves this problem by providing an interface between most telecines and non-linear ingest devices. Images can now be scanned and recorded directly to storage at the highest possible quality. Use of an EDL during the ingest process improves storage and scanning efficiency as only the exact material, specified by the EDL or editor, is stored. Corona DS The Corona DS adds a robust multi-VTR editor with dual sync editing capability. Simultaneously synchronizing mixed time base VTRs, typically 23.98sF and 29.94i, frame accurately in the same edit speeds layoff times and removes the need for further downstream dubs, etc. In addition the Corona DS logs Key Code (optional), along with source time code to generate FLEX files - an essential cross reference of actual film frame and edit time code ensuring the correct selection of film clips. Up to 4 VTRs and a telecine can be controlled at any one time. Corona CP When a one-light grade is just not adequate, it is necessary to adjust the telecines controls and many parameters to achieve the best possible imagery available from the film. This historically requires the use of expensive third party color correctors, which may not be available or perhaps is being used with other disc or tape sourced sessions. The Corona CP adds telecine color and sizing control via a control panel allowing those parameters to be tuned to give a best light during the ingest process. Star - Safe Title Area Reticule generator The multi-format "Star" Safe Title/Area Reticle generator provides a number of preset markers that aid the precise and reproducible placement of text within the recommended safe title or logo limits. Safe action presets are also available plus user definable markers with readouts of pixel and line positions with aspect ratios if required. A text generator is also available to provide idents or slates to identify particular shots. Utilizing the light-weight, but rugged Aurora 2U chassis this unit is ideal for telecine, studio and mobile operations. The front panel LCD display and controls allow fast and precise selection of the Star's many features or can be controlled via an Ethernet connection from any networked PC. |
The company was founded in 1990 by former engineers from ARRI headquarters in Munich. In 1993, P+S Technik entered the international market and has since received a renowned reputation as a competent and professional partner for solutions and products of the highest level in the cine world.
P+S Technik became generally known for its support of ARRIFLEX products and conversions. Nowadays the company offers a wide range of other products and is especially best known for the award winning P+S Technik image converter MINI35 and PRO35.
The image converters represent the fusion of classical 35mm film lenses and digital recording. With the development of these products P+S Technik influenced decisively the progress in the digital film.
In 2000 the SKATER® Mini was born and following the ideas of Director/DoP Sebastian Cramer a whole product family has been continuously developed. The fact, that the SKATER® delivers an optimal performance in the practice, has been proved in 2008: The SKATER® Mini and its family of products have been awarded with the Technical Achievement Award of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
In 2005 the WEISSCAM® HS-1, the first camera of P+S Technik, has been developed in cooperation with DoP Stefan Weiss. The digital high speed camera is suitable for extreme slow motion picture in commercial and sport takes.
Two years later P+S Technik launched in cooperation with Silicon Imaging the SI-2K Digital Cinema Camera. With the SI-2K P+S Technik introduced another high-quality product onto the market and completes since the choice of digital film cameras. |
